Frenzied Fridays

I decided I am going to start something new....every Friday I will be posting a block from a current quilt I am working on....with a house full of 6 kids by the time it gets to Friday ita definitely frenzied around here.  So this weeks block is a paper pieced block....well the whole quilt is paper pieced.   I found this great blog wombat quilts and fell in love with her red and teal stars so I set out to raid my stash and start one of my own.  So here is block 1

Back at it

I find myself back in blog land.  I truly have missed blogging and need to make more time for it.  I have been working on lots of projects and finished quite a few quilts.  Life here in Florida isn't as grand as we had hoped for so I find solace in my quilts and projects.    Here are a few of my recent quilts.  I also joined a guild and have donated a few quilts to the love quilt project.   Until next time.

Hst madness

All day yesterday I made half square triangles,  red and neutral hst....I think I am seeing these in my sleep now. Just how many did I make 600!!!!! Yep you read that correctly 600 2 inch little red and white hst. This scrappy quilt is definitely testing my patience in cutting and pressing....I feel like that's all I have done, cut press cut again and then when you think your done cut some more. I am very excited to put this together though as I am seeing the blocks come together.
Until next time

Strings

Here is what I am working with today! !!! Neutral strings all different sizes. My goal this year is to use stash and as a result I am making lots of scrappy quilts.  This is actually quite freeing for me as I tend to make what I call controlled scrappy I fuss and fret and certain fabrics touching.  Well I am just giving up with this latest scrappy,  whatever I pull out of the bin goes in that block.   Check back soon to see my scrappy all put together I am really loving how its turning out and it feels great to know I didn't purchase a single piece of fabric its all from my stash

Fresh Start

New year, new me!!! well thats the plan.  Ever since we moved here to Florida i have just been in a rutt,  I lost my creative juices and just didnt want to do anything.  Well i actually looked at tons of pictures on pinterest and blogs and they were all awesome but nothing seemed to get me out of the rutt.  One day i just decided i had put stuff off for way to long and i just pulled out a project and started working on it,  until it was completed and thats what i took.  I finished a bunny hill applique top called vintage christmas and I got that spark back that euphoria of putting a piece of work together.  So this year my goal is to use more stash and finish up all the ufo's i have sitting around.  I already finished a handquilted lap quilt that just needed the biniding put on...its a christmas lap quilt so i finished it after christmas but hey at least its all ready for next year...i am ahead of the game for next year is how i choose to look at it.
I will be regularly posting again on my blog and posting pictures of my completed works or works in progress.
Happy new year ( a little late) and here is to new beginings
Blessings

Hawaiian Heritage

I was born in Hawaii and lived there until i was 12.  My father is a native Hawaiian and I grew up learning about many of the foods and culture of native Hawaii.  I have always loved the hawaiin quilts and have plans to make one for my bed but before i made one for the bed i wanted to try a small sample so here is what i came up with.  The pattern is hawaiian breadfruit,  i quilted 1/2 spacing
